Though it's not often discussed, it is very common place in the porn business for many of the talents to do something called "private shoots" for individuals "personal collections".
Yes, many legitimate adult talent agencies quite often book their talents for such shoots. Most of these "shoots" take place in a residential setting, utilize a very amateur setup and equipment, and often never make it on a DVD or on the Internet (being that they're for the individuals "private collection" of course...).
Often when you hear a female (or male) talent state that they are booking 30 or more shoots a month, or more than one shoot per day, many of the shoots on their schedule (though they may not admit it) include private shoots. How have I come to this conclusion? Well I know for a fact that the amount of content being produced as of current has substantially declined, and even the TOP performers are not working every day.
Now these "private shoots" are technically legal, if all of the paperwork required is in order and the private collector has his business/corp documents properly filed, however the real question to you as a new, or established performer, is "Is this really the route you want to take?"
When I got into the porn biz, the only types of shoots I was looking to book, were shoots of which I knew the product would have wide circulation. Why? Because being that I already had my website in place, I knew that every scene that I was cast in, was essentially a commercial for my website www.MonicaF.com - this is how you as a performer should think as well.
Sure, "private shoots" might pay well, but truthfully - most are akin to escorting (which is only LEGAL in the US as Carson City, Nevada), and that wasn't the route I was looking to take at the time.
So in conclusion, before booking a ton of private shoots - figure out exactly what you want to do in the sex biz, because if you want to be a real "porn star" , private shoots won't get you there. Also keep in mind that if "private shoots" are more to your liking, you can probably make much more money legally escorting either in NV or outside of the country (and deal with a lot less grief as well).
